Treble Cone Ski Field – South Island Snow heaven

The Treble Cone ski field is the largest in the south island with the longest verticle rise in the Queenstown Southern Lakes District. Over looking the lake Wanaka and Mount Aspiring the views are breath taking. The terrains are pretty exciting with different altitudes.

The Treble Cone ski field was set up by Murray Raffills and Ralph Markby in 1968.Starting off as a small club field being managed by local ski enthusiasts. Then later on in the year of 1975 the ski field was listed a public company to raise finances. The ski field has since been receiving constant updates.

The winter activities in treble cone are numerous , being the largest ski area in the south island , equalled only by Roundhill after the installation of a 1.44Km rope tow which the world’s largest rope tow. The field also has a 4Km High Street to easy rider beginner to intermediate groomed run. The field is famous for its steep and challenging terrains which is claimed to be one of the best in the country. The recent earh wor takes into account all levels of skiers into account. The kids fun trail is a little park for the kids to explore the terrain.

Located around 90 minutes away from Queenstown and about the 35 minutes from Wanaka. There is also a shuttle service available from both these locations. Some of the facilities in the ski field include the Rookie Academy which is an instructor training center in the premises.
