Abu Dhabi is one of the cosmopolitan cities of the Middle East and hosts visitors from across the world every year. Camel racing is one such event and is regarded as an exciting and memorable event to attend when in Abu Dhabi. Racing takes place on special tracks and happens throughout the year. However, the peak for the races is from October to April. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are considered to be the most popular race days. Most visitors come from across the world to experience this unique sport. Many hotels organize visits to the races for their guests one such hotel is, Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara.

There are usually two sessions of races that take place , one being the morning races that commence at 7.30am and the other being the afternoon slot which usually commences at around 2.30 pm. There are fifteen race tracks spread across the UAE. The distance varies from race to race and the general distance is usually 4K to 10K. Some races have 15 camels while some can go up to about 70. The attire to attend camel races is quite casual. Some races also serve free refreshments.

The morning races are usually the camels of the Sheikhs while the others are open races, the ones that take place in the afternoon. Winning an afternoon race is considered to be highly prestigious. So when visiting the UAE make sure to tick this off your to-do list.

Water Sports in Phuket – Making the most of great weather and a warm Indian Ocean

The much loved island of Phuket lies in the Andaman Sea. It is home to some of the world’s most spectacular scenery including deep green rainforests, mountains rising into the sky, clear blue seas and the infamous and mystical Phang Nga Bay. Phuket is also known for its swanky restaurants and wellness spas. The island’s main town and also its largest, Patong, is where the nightlife is the most colourful. Patong Beach is lined with wild nightclubs, bars and dance clubs.

Phuket, aside from being home to the beautifully designed Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, is also known for its beach and water sports. The beaches of Phuket are ideal for some wet and wild fun. The best time of year to catch some steady winds with flat seas is during the November to May northeast monsoon season. The best time to set sail is from November to February, in the middle of monsoon season. Sailing is best avoided from mid-May to late October due to heavy seas and squalls. Phuket Wake Park, a large freshwater lake, is where you would find wakeboarding.

A Tour of The Strand in Townsville – The foreshore paradise

The land down under is ever so welcoming to all its tourists. There are numerous places with varying attractions and activities to do. Among the many regions visited by tourist, Queensland is a popular hot spot for tourist. There are various places around Queensland that excite the curious tourist. One such place is Townsville in the Northern part of Queensland.Accommodation Townsville is plentiful to satisfy its visitors. Among the top places to stay in Townsville is, Oaks M on Palmer is not located too far from the most of the attractions in Townsville and offers world class stylish accommodation to suit the needs of all travellers.

One of the prime attractions in Townsville is the strand. The strand has been part of the history of the town since it was formed in the mid 19th century. Being a seaside foreshore, the Strand attracts many visitors from interstate as well internationally. The views from the strands are picturesque. Limitations being imposed on height restrictions for high rise buildings, they are further away from the foreshore. The strand is also the proud winner of the cleanest beach title in Australia in the year 2008, won twice in five years.

The foreshore is used for various activities. Some of which are annual events. Every fourth Friday of the month, the strand becomes a night market and is quite a popular event for the tourist as well as local residents. Other such events are the annual Christmas events; there is also a firework display and gathering on New Year’s Eve. There are various activities to do at the strand such as the visit to the theme park, the salt water lagoon among many others.
