Ballooning in Villeneuve-sur-Lot – Gliding through the Heavens

A trip to France invariably entails a climb up the Eiffel Tower, a visit to the Louvre Museum and a tribute being paid at the Arc de Triumph. Most of the top attractions are located within or bordering the capital of the country which is commonly referred to as the ‘City of Love’. Yet, the unsung corners of France hold wondrous excitement and magical experiences as well, only if one spares a moment to tour around.

The agricultural core of South-western France, Villeneuve-sur-Lot, resembles a page off a book of fairy tales with calm waters running beneath an arched brick bridge, stout but solid buildings and lines of greenery. The area is particularly famous for its plums and the fine wine that is bottled using the fresh produce in the vineyards are consumed both locally and internationally.

One of the most scintillating experiences in the otherwise quiet Villeneuve-sur-Lot is the ballooning opportunity, where one ascends towards the heavens on a hot air balloon to capture a lifetime’s worth of scenic pictures and some fun filled memories. The vast expanse of greenery and vegetation below turn out to be a breathtaking sight from the skies and the few tiny buildings that dot the landscape look like drops of sugar put in place to decorate the vista. The availability of ample flat land makes take off and landing two straightforward tasks for the person in charge of the controls. The baskets are fairly spacious and allows for comfortable passage. The wind shields come in handy once in a way when the breeze is strong, but otherwise it is almost always a steady flight. The colourful balloons have designated points of landing and they are guided to a smooth halt onto a patch of greenery just as beautiful as the one that it took off from.

There is no shortage of accommodation even though the township is not very prominent. Hence, be comforted that there will be a Villeneuve Sur Lot hotel that will be there at every beck and call of yours. Many a hotel Villeneuve Sur Lot has the same charm and cheer of a fairytale palace, among which Le Moulin de Madame undoubtedly receives some of the highest accolades.
