Bali National Golf Club – The island’s flagship golf course

Indonesia’s best loved island is most often referred to in connection with stunning beaches. Boasting some of the world’s best waves for surfing, sites for diving, water sports, beachfront restaurants and bars; far and away Asia’s most popular beach holiday destination, is Bali. Beach resort accommodation can be found up and down the beachfront and the beaches themselves are always a hive of activity. However, there is more to do in Bali besides just going to the beach. You can wake up to the sound of the crashing waves and enjoy ocean views from the Holiday Inn Resort Bali Benoa and still make the most of the island’s other attractions.

The golf course at the Bali National Golf Club recently underwent a complete restructuring which took eighteen months. The course was redesigned and upgraded to international standards by the prestigious Nelson and Haworth Golf Course Architects. The Club was officially reopened to the public on 1st March 2014.

There is a truly unique experience to be had at this venue. The eighteen-hole course features three distinct playing environments. Golfers will play in a setting of creeks, canyons and tropical foliage filled with birds through first nine holes. The idea was to replicate the paddy terraces of the Balinese countryside. Holes ten to sixteen have the backdrop of a mature coconut grove. The towering coconut trees provide vertical definition to the golf course. The seventeenth hole looks out onto the sapphire blue Indian Ocean and is treated to a cool sea breeze. The eighteenth hole plays from the beach back to the clubhouse beside a magnificent lake. In the background the majestic Gunung Agung reaches upwards to meet the sky. Head to the elegant clubhouse after a round of golf to enjoy a drink at the bar, while looking out across the ocean.
