Phrompthep Cape – Viewing the Sunset in Phuket

Located on Phuket’s southernmost point, Phrompthep Cape is probably the most popular scenic spot on the island. The cape is covered in grass with a sprinkling of tall sugar palms. The cape faces west and is somewhat elevated making it the perfect vantage point to see this enchanting sight.

Each evening dozens of people come to the cape to view and photograph the sunset. It can get a little crowded, but the spectacular view of the setting sun is worth the effort. The sun starts to set at around 6 pm, but one should get there early to reserve a good spot. Visitors can watch the crowd to pass the time. One can also walk to the bottom of the cape if time permits. The slope is quite gentle and it is easy to walk down it, although the walk back up can be a bit of a challenge.
