Water Sports in Langkawi – A Wonderful Way to Explore the Coastal Stretch

Holidaying in the Asian state of Malaysia is an exciting venture. At the heart of Malaysia lies Kuala Lumpur, its capital, which is filled with iconic landmarks and attractions such as the PETRONAS Towers atop of which a wonderful panoramic view of the capital can be obtained. Some distance away from the capital is Sunway, home to the famed theme and Water Park Sunway Lagoon ideal for families holidaying with children. For those who wish to have an island experience, travelling to the Malaysian island of Langkawi is highly recommended. Tourists searching for luxury accommodation on the island will be happy to indulge in the facilities offered by The Westin Langkawi Resort and Spa.

The island is also known as the Jewel of Kedah and was believed to be cursed by the inhabitants of nearby islands. However, this does not deter the throngs of tourists that wish to explore the beautiful waters surrounding Langkawi. Given the clear ocean waters of the island, water sports in Langkawi are greatly sought after and one of the most popular activities is jet skiing.

Given this popularity, a number of tour operators provide tourists with the opportunity to explore the waters of Langkawi as well as numerous surrounding islands via Jet Ski and some packages include an opportunity to meet and dine with the locals.

Other water sports available include kayaking and parasailing which are becoming fairly popular for they provide a wonderful vantage point from which to experience the coastal stretch of the island. Many of these sports provide tourists with the opportunity to unwind and relax and take a break from the fast paced work life.

Other attractions in the area include visiting the three parks that have been given the title of a World Geopark by the UNESCO, taking the Langkawi Cable Car and visiting Dataran Lang.
