Hong Kong Jockey Club – Ultimate Horseracing

Some of the fiercest horse races are held at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, which is a worthwhile experience if you happen to be vacationing in Hong Kong. The area is based in a prime location with an abundant supply of Hong Kong hotel rooms, resorts and serviced apartments such as the Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong and many others which mean that you will not run into any trouble finding accommodation opportunities. The horse racing sport in Hong Kong started in 1841 after the arrival of the British in the country. In the year 1884, the Jockey Club was founded. In 1971 it was transformed into a professional horse racing platform and institution. As of today, the club is recognized as one of the largest and leading horse racing clubs in the Asia region. The illustrious history and fine traditions that the institution upkeeps and holds have led to its popularity and respect among all the different sectors of Hong Kong. A racing season will usually last for about eleven months starting from early on in September and continue through mid-July of the following year. Within that duration, over 700 races will be held. While most of the daytime races are usually held on Saturdays and Sundays at the Sha Tin Racecourse, night time races will be held on Wednesdays at the Happy Valley Racecourse with the exception of holidays.

International first class races are held at both the racecourses and have seen the likes of Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup, Longines HK International Races and the Champions Mile Race which target world famous horses in their wake. The club also has been recognized for its philanthropic efforts that have been consistent over the decades. The surplus of its revenue each year is donated to various charitable causes such as the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Victoria Park, Hong Kong Ocean Park and HK Park.

Learn to Scuba Dive While in Doha – life under the waters

Although many inexperienced travellers tend to think that Doha is hardly the place for water sports. Surprisingly however, they will soon realise that it is not so. With its impressive geographical location, Doha offers many scuba diving courses to travellers. Diving in Doha is no longer an impossible task.

Whether you are an amateur, expert or even a first-timer, it hardly matters in Doha. The diving experts will teach you the art. The very first step is to observe how others scuba dive. And then ask yourself if you are fit enough to try out your first step of diving. If you do not feel fit enough yet, do not take the first step – however much expert your coach could be. Take the first step, only if you are fit. Places such as Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara offer coach services as well as diving gear.

If you already have diving qualifications but out of touch, you can still refresh your skills by signing up for a PADI certified course. Once you are certain of your fitness, take that first step to explore Doha’s underwater.

You have already seen how fast the divers are when they first enter the waters. But you need not be that fast. Slow your pace and make sure your disturbance to the marine life is minimum. When you slow your pace and floats leisurely, the waters will remain calm. This is the moment when you can see miscellaneous types of marine creatures appearing into your view.

When you go down Doha’s waters, you will be in for many surprises. Not to mention mere schools of brightly coloured fish, but you will also come across abandoned shipwrecks only if you have patience to slow down. That patience is rewarding, as you will not be easily tired and be exposed to many interesting things under water.

Water Sports in Dubai – Get the adrenalin surging through your veins.

Dubai is the second largest of the seven United Arab Emirates but it is the largest in terms of population. It is known for its futuristic architecture that includes some of the largest and the biggest constructions in the world. Dubai drew world’s amazement and wonder, first with the magnificent feat that was the Palm Jumeirah Hotel and then with the mega tall skyscraper Burj Khalifa. The luxury malls go hand in hand with the affluent lifestyle as do the swanky restaurants, top of the line theme parks and resort hotels like Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort.

Dubai is also home to endless miles of white sandy beaches. You will even find some beaches that are named after the sports they are most popular for, like Kitesurfing Beach, a long, smooth stretch of sand off Jumeirah Road. Dubai is constantly expanding its coastline and with it the water sports companies are moving in to offer more extreme sports. The Nasimi Watersports Festival has become an annual event with stand up paddle boarding, plus kitesurfing and ocean kayaking races. The lively event on Nasimi Beach even features music, food and kids activities.

The conventional activities like diving, surfing and fishing are still popular but Dubai has more to offer. ‘Flyboarding’ is an activity that has water jets mounted beneath a ‘flyboard’ that shoot you fifty feet above the water and let you spin, roll, hover and zoom in the air with a certified instructor guiding you step by step. There are a few variations like the Jetpack, FlyBike and Jet Blade Flyboard that offer a similar experience. A Jet Ski tour is a fantastic way to appreciate the city’s iconic coastline. If the open ocean does not suit your fancy, try the Aquaventure Waterpark with water slides, a one and a half kilometre artificial river and a wave pool.

Kayaking and Canoeing Tours in Kalu Ganga – Unique Adventures

Ripples wash over the Kalu Ganga or the Black River, as it conceals mysteries and tales that have been gathered from its travels in Sri Lanka. The Kalu Ganga begins at Adam’s Peak and meets its final destination – the ocean – at Kalutara. If you feel like uncovering the river’s well-guarded secrets it would be best to arrange a kayaking or canoeing tour in Kalutara. When you plan your trip to this coastal town, consider booking your stay at Anantara Kalutara Resort. It is to be opened in July 2016 and is all set to offer many, many exciting things to do in Kalutara. Canoeing and kayaking down the peaceful Kalu Ganga is one such option you must certainly explore.

Get into a canoe that allows a more relaxed journey down the river, or choose a kayak that will compel you to race down the river. However, the best way to enjoy the river and its surroundings would be to journey slowly. Surrounded by bits of green shrubbery, the soothing sound of the temple bell and the distant honking of horns, your canoe or kayak will drift purposefully down the Kalu Ganga.

Ratnapura, the city of gems will gleam in the distance. The town is one of the busiest in the island. Nevertheless the beauty of canoeing or kayaking is that the irritable sounds of city life are muted. Instead the sweet songs of the birds provide much needed entertainment.

At the end of your journey you would witness the Gangatilaka Vihara in Kalutara. It is a place of worship for the Buddhists in Sri Lanka and the sight of the magnificent stupa is awe-inspiring.

The journey down the Kalu Ganga would prove that, our often busy, noisy lives need heaps of peace and tranquillity.
